We absolutely loved performing Nellie! This show is beautifully written for a mainly female cast and allows each character to shine regardless of the number of lines. We were privileged to be the first school to perform this show for our state theatre festival; earning State Runner-up!

We performed this play for our One Act Play competition and for our school, and it was a great success at both. The play allows all cast members to shine.

Great drama addressing issues that are still very relevant today. You can be very creative with the blocking, and the running time (between 25 - 35 minutes) is perfect for One Act Play Festival competitions. We brought our production of "Nellie" to a Play Festival and earned a Superior rating, Best Ensemble, Best Choreography, student playing "Nellie" earned Best Lead Actor in a Drama, and student playing "Anne" Most Outstanding Festival Actor.

This is a great play for a large female ensemble (9 females and 1 or more males).  We loved learning more about the true story of Nellie Bly and her incredible bravery.  This was a fun play to produce!  The kids won third place at their middle school one-act play contest.  Nellie won All-Star Cast, and Ms. Grupe and the nurse won Honorable Mention All-Star Cast awards. We received many compliments on the play both at contest and at our public performance.
