Behind The Scenes

PLAYWRIGHT REID CONRAD TALKS ABOUT HIS PLAY

FISMIT (THE MISFIT SUPERHERO)

1. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE THIS PLAY?

I like rooting for the underdog, and high school misfits certainly fit that role.

2. WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PART OR LINE IN THE PLAY? WHY?

PT's reaction to Diana lying on his bed when getting homework help (with Mortimer lurking beneath the bed) is a favorite moment, because the proximity of a pretty girl is just too overwhelming for PT.

3. WHERE DID THE CHARACTERS COME FROM? ARE THEY BASED ON PEOPLE YOU KNOW?

These characters are born of fantasy but have their basis in reality drawn from my observations in the classroom.

4. WHAT DID YOU TRY TO ACHIEVE WITH THIS PLAY?

The simple message, "While not everything will fall in your favor, having confidence in your abilities will help you to achieve and help those around you."
