Howard Hartwell has been playing a department store Santa for many a Christmas. This year, however, the season has finally taken its toll on him, and he has found his holiday spirit in a bottle, much to the chagrin of the store's manager. Mr. Hartwell is promptly relieved of his duties and finds himself in an alley where he notices an old sack. While it looks empty, the sack somehow produces wonderful gifts, first for two needy children and then for a homeless person. But when the store manager appears, only one of his gift requests is filled. He accuses Mr. Hartwell of stealing the goods, and a nearby policeman marches the men off to the station to sort it all out. There Mr. Hartwell is able to give out even more presents, but realizes greed has something to do with a wish being fulfilled or not. Little does he know that his actions will finally reveal to him the true meaning of the season, and lead him to a future he never could have foreseen!
