EDDIE COPE AND CARL WILLIAMS
EDDIE COPE was a Houston playwright and journalist with a playful sense of humor, and with his fondness for outrageous puns, wrote more than 30 lighthearted comedies, mysteries and melodramas for community theatre. Upon his death in 2009 at age 96, the Houston theatre community praised Cope as a local institution and an inspiration. His plays have been produced across the country and overseas. He was a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, the Texas Non-Profit Theatre Association and Scriptwriters/ Houston. He retired from "TV Guide Magazine" and attended and/or read more than one-hundred plays a year.CARL L. WILLIAMS (pictured on right) is a Houston playwright who has had many of his full-length and one-act plays produced, often as the result of winning competitions. "When Bullfrogs Sing Opera" won the 2001 McLaren Memorial Comedy Play Writing Competition at the Midland (TX) Community Theater. Besides winning a variety of national contests with subsequent productions ranging from California to New York, he has been a finalist in many other prestigious competitions, including the National Ten-Minute Play Contest at the Actors Theatre of Louisville. Carl is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.
